| Who are ‘Investors’? |
|
High net worth individuals (HNIs) who want to invest their personal money in promising businesses are the investors at Indian Funding. Investors could also be venture capitalists, angel investors, banks and other funding agencies. At Indian Funding, you will find more of the HNI investors. Indian Indian Funding provides the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem with a platform for these investors to find potential businesses to invest in.
Investors could be professionals employed with various companies, retired entrepreneurs or executives. Many of them are looking for ways to maximize their money, but most of them also want to explore a business venture for reasons that are not just monetary in nature. They may have the expertise to make a startup do extremely well and may want to mentor the startup, or have the advice or the network to solve problems that startups face.
Indian Funding, while acting as the platform to enable funding for entrepreneurship, helps entrepreneurs tap into this expertise, which could prove to be beneficial to their businesses. That could be the reason why they are called angel investors. |
| |
| I have heard of Venture Capital. What is that? |
|
| A venture capital firm has a pool of funds which is invested in businesses of interest to the firm. This fund is managed in a professional manner. Investments are done after detailed discussions with the entrepreneurs and their teams and after conducting due diligence. A VC firm funds the business in exchange of equity in the business and/or share of profits over time. VC firms usually work with big fund sizes and hence the money a small entrepreneur needs might not be even worth their consideration. Once a VC firm invests in a company, a board is setup and entrepreneurs might have to relinquish their ideas of how to run the business. |
| |
| Who are the investors at Indian Funding? |
|
| The investors at Indian Funding have been compiled from databases of investors and private Indian funding groups. Individual investors who have registered at Indian Funding are also part of this system. New investors join our network every day, so do keep checking. |
| |
| How much does it cost? |
|
| For now, Indian Funding services are free for both investors and entrepreneurs. After a period of six months, the service will continue to be free for Investors but the entrepreneurs will have to pay a nominal fee of Rs.1500 to renew their membership. |
| |
| Like free email on the Web, why isn’t this service free? |
|
| Indian Funding is a business too, just like the entrepreneurs’ you find here. We enable connections between entrepreneurs and investors. We incur costs to make this happen. With the registration fee collected from entrepreneurs, we aim to cover some of these costs. Compared to the charges entrepreneurs pay to borrow a certain amount of money for their business, this fee is extremely low. |
| |
| Instead, why don’t you charge a percentage of the money raised as investment in a business? |
|
Having Indian Funding charge a percentage of the money raised as investment by businesses would mean that we have to be involved at every step of the way with you. Entrepreneurs and Investors would not get a free hand to connect and explore their ideas. The aim of Indian Funding is to enable free discussions between potential partners. To keep a third party in the loop at all times would demean that aim.
Also that would increase our costs substantially, which would make the entire process very expensive for you. Not all business ideas will find investors, so the chances of us covering all our costs would reduce dramatically. Does not make business sense, does it? |
| |
| What are Premium Services? |
|
| Indian Funding has lined up Premium Services which will help you streamline your business proposals and get your proposals rated by experts. We will soon be announcing the launch of these services. |
| |
| I don’t see my proposal on the site. Where is it? |
|
Every business proposal is checked by our team before it is made available online on Indian Funding. This is a process to ensure that only genuine entries make their way to potential investors. Within two days of your submitting the proposal, it goes online after having been scrutinized and approved by our team. You will get an email notification telling you that your proposal is now visible on the site. In case our editorial team finds some issues with your proposal, you will be sent an email letting you know about it.
Every time you edit your proposal, this process is repeated. So, do wait for two days for the proposal to show up again. |
| |
| I just have an idea, no business or office yet. Can I get funded? |
|
| Yes, you could, provided your business proposal appeals to investors and you are able to convince them that you have it in you to convert the plan into reality. Indian Funding understands the pangs of entrepreneurship and the fact that a business could need investment at any stage, at the idea level, at the startup level, when revenues have started trickling in, or at a mature level, when the company has demonstrated solid revenues/profitability, and now needs to scale up. |
| |
| Is there a maximum/minimum limit to the Investments? |
|
| No. Funding is at an investor’s discretion. |
| |
| Are the contact requests automated? |
|
| No. All the contact requests you receive on your phone or email are from investors who have read your business proposal and want to discuss your project in more detail. |
| |
| How much information should I include in my proposal? |
|
| If you are worried that your ideas might get used by someone else, we recommend that you give only as much information as is required to get investors interested in your project. Do not give out all the details, and when absolutely essential, consider signing a “Non Disclosure Agreement” with the investors. |
| |
| How is my privacy protected? |
|
| Indian Funding uses a secure environment to store all your information. Only the information that you allow others to see will be made visible. The site does not give away your information to any third party agency. Your information is kept confidential and private. Read “Privacy Policy” to know more. |

| Why should I use this service? |
|
Entrepreneurs do have many options to look for funding. You can approach banks. But banks ask for collaterals and other guarantees that usually block your assets. You could explore government schemes which you could be eligible for, but that usually is not the fastest or most productive way to look for financial support.
So investors become the best option for most entrepreneurs. And Indian Funding provides you a swift and easy-to-use platform to showcase your ideas to the investor community. You can explore your business ideas with multiple people at the same time thus speeding up the process. |
| |
| What should my business proposal contain? |
|
| The intent of your business proposal is to secure investment. So write details that will answer the questions a potential investor may have. Take a look at these questions to spark off how best you would like to present your proposal. |
| - What is the business? What is the market size? |
| - When will you start getting revenues? How much? What is the profitability? |
| - How much money do you need? |
| - Why do you need it? |
| - When do you need it? |
- By when can you pay it back?
Do remember that an investor will not invest in anything that is just a lot of talk. An investor needs to be convinced about your vision, your plans, your skill sets, and your ability to manage people and money. Only then will he take the risk of investing in a business. Read the “Business Plan Tips” section to learn more about the same. |

| Do you vouch for the investors? |
|
| While we carefully see whom we add to our investor’s database, it is impossible for us to verify every investors’s credentials or track record. We recommend that just as you are assessed by a potential investor, you should also assess the investor. Indian Funding puts you in touch with investors, but after that, it is your assessment and due diligence efforts that have to guide you to your next steps. |
